Glycemic
The word glycemic is a term often used in relation to diet issues.
In general, the term glycemic is a derivative of the word glucose,
meaning sugar. Thus, this glucose derived word, glycemic also relates
to sugar. In this case, glycemic relates to the process of how sugar
is absorbed into the body via the bloodstream.
Sometimes glycemic is used in combination with other words to define
certain sugar level related health conditions. An example of using
glycemic this way is by placing the prefix hypo, which means under,
in front of the word glycemic for instance.
See, hypo + glycemic = hypoglycemic.
This means that the glycemic level or the blood sugar level in
the body is low.
Another glycemic example in which the word glycemic can become
a medical term is by placing the prefix hyper, which means increased
or high, in front of the word glycemic again.
Once again, hyper + glycemic = hyperglycemic.
This means that the glycemic level or the level of sugar in the
body is high.
The term glycemic is just one of many words that can mean different
things when combined with other words.
